Las Vegas Marriage Laws
Las Vegas has always been known as the
world's capital of weddings and today's figures have gone beyond

life have come to Las Vegas to get married because of the lenient
and convenient nature of Nevada marriage laws.
There are theme weddings, dozens of wedding chapels with even
a drive-through wedding chapel . It's easy to find formal wear
clothing stores, photographers, musicians, florists, jewelers,
resorts, caterers, and banquet halls to accommodate a Las Vegas

When applying for a Las Vegas marriage license, Nevada law does
not require blood tests. There is no waiting period and licenses
cost $55, payable by cash only.
Adults 18 years of age and older need no consent for their Las
Vegas wedding, however, proof of age will be required through
age 21. Persons age 16 and 17 may marry if:
- Consent is given by either a parent in
person at the time the license is applied for; or,
- Consent is given through a notarized
affidavit signed by either parent when not present. This
notarized affidavit of consent must contain the birth date
of the minor, state the relationship of the party giving
consent and be written in English.
If a person is less than 16 years of age,
he/she may marry in Las Vegas only if he/she has the consent
of a parent or legal guardian. Authorization from a Nevada District
Court must also be obtained. The court may authorize the marriage
of persons less than 16 years of age in extraordinary circumstances
if the court finds that a) the marriage will serve the best
interests of such person and b) such person has the consent
required. One additional witness, other than the person performing
the ceremony, must be present.
Divorces must be final in the state where it was granted before
a couple can be married in Las Vegas, Nevada. The date of the
final decree and the city and state are also required.
To apply for a Las Vegas marriage license, both parties
must appear at the Las Vegas Marriage License Bureau located
at 200 South Third Street -1st floor. The courthouse is open
7 days a week from Monday- Thursday, 8:00 a.m.- midnight and
24-hours on weekends and all holidays.
