Downtown Las Vegas Revitalization
The latest development within the City
of Las Vegas is that future development plans are being transformed
into reality. The Fremont Street Experience is a redevelopment
project that has transformed downtown Las Vegas into a resort
destination that shows a unique side of Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman boasts of the new downtown
revitalization developments that are in the planning stages.
It all began when the "Freemont Experience" transformed
the downtown casinos and brought tourists and local residents
downtown. It's estimated that $5.5 million will be spent on
Main Street to encourage a thriving economy in the City of Las
Vegas.
Now, Las Vegas is looking forward to a new and exciting venture
that will attract people to live, play and work in the heart
of the city. The new outlet mall has already proven to be a
great success. More business plans are being developed that
will bring companies from all over the U.S.
The 61-acre community will consist of urban-style
condominiums with lofts and will include brownstones and
offices. Mayor Goodman is asking companies from all over the
world to submit their proposals to the master developer. The
vision is for this to be the soul and heartbeat of Las Vegas.
The mayor predicts that the new monorail
will go from the airport to Freemont Street, as one of the entertainment
centers of the city.
The Freemont Street Experience is now considered a Las Vegas
landmark since so many of the hotels are being preserved and
are a popular attraction to visitors and residents alike. The
new development is also a contributing factor to the economic
growth in Las Vegas producing several million dollars in taxes
from room tax revenue derived from over 14,000 hotel rooms.
The Fremont Street Experience is an ideal venue for entertainers,
shopping, gambling and a walk down memory lane in a nostalgic
setting. With the influx of tourists and locals visiting The
Fremont Street Experience, promotions for the business community
are now opening up and being well received.
Millions of dollars in funds towards the redevelopment have
produced a prosperous downtown that supports preservation efforts
and continues to revitalize the downtown area. The main goal
is to increase hotel occupancy and increase employment. Nevada
is considered a business-friendly state that is attracting businesses
to relocate or to expand within the downtown neighborhood. Although
this vast project will take time, those participating are moving
as quickly as possible to the end result.
